Are you a Pastry Chef / Baker?

We have the perfect job opportunity for you…

Company Information

Montalto Estate is a privately owned 400-acre estate in Ballynahinch, County Down. The historic estate has been fully open to the public since 2018 and has become a major 5-star tourist attraction in the area, welcoming over 100,000 visitors per annum. The owners of Montalto Estate are looking for an ambitious pastry chef or baker, to work alongside the full-time kitchen team in the continued creation and delivery of our well-established café sweet display and counter offering.

The Café at Montalto information

The Café at Montalto is a stylish eatery which specialises in locally inspired dishes that people love – all served the Montalto way. There are areas on the estate where the gardening team grows quite a bit of produce for use in The Café. Showcasing the produce of local, artisan suppliers and incorporating it into their dishes has enabled Montalto to nurture strong relations with them. Head Chef, Paul Ferguson uses many suppliers including Springmount Farm, Ewing’s Seafoods and Draynes Farm in the weekly menu and specials. The reason for this is simple: supporting these producers as well as growing our own produce, not only helps to sustain the local economy, it also ensures that we can use the freshest, highest quality, naturally grown produce.

This is a unique opportunity for a suitable candidate to join The Café team at this historic estate which has become one of the premier visitor attractions in Northern Ireland. You will have a strong passion for food and enjoy working with fresh produce, in an exciting, fast paced kitchen environment. Work won’t purely be limited to day-to-day café operations but also events, afternoon teas and other exciting opportunities. There will also be the freedom to demonstrate your own creativity and ideas within the role.

Criteria:

  • Providing the highest standards of preparation and presentation of a wide range of pastry and baked products
  • Ensuring that cleanliness and tidiness is maintained in all kitchen areas
  • Working as part of the Montalto team to deliver excellent product quality
  • Ensuring excellent environmental health and food hygiene standards are maintained
  • Complying with all health & safety, hygiene and licensing policies and procedures
  • Degree of self-motivation and organisational skills
  • A willingness to continue your development and an ability to work well with others in the team
  • Relevant experience is essential
  • Qualifications are preferred but not essential and consideration will still be given to candidates without these
