Reports to: Head of Housekeeping
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper/Cleaner to join our team at Montalto Estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and organisation across a variety of estate settings, ensuring a safe, tidy, and welcoming environment for visitors, guests, and staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who take pride in their work and enjoy creating clean, comfortable spaces. Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial services, or commercial cleaning is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and maintain all designated areas across the estate, including:
- The Café
- The Shop
- Ticket office
- The Carriage Rooms
- Public and staff toilets
- Meeting spaces
- Main office
- Occasionally Montalto House
- Carry out daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitising surfaces
- Clean and sanitise kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas, and other facilities to a high standard
- Change linens where required and replenish supplies such as toiletries, towels, and consumables
- Ensure all washrooms are regularly cleaned, fully stocked, and well-presented
- Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with estate procedures
- Organise storage areas and maintain cleaning equipment in good working order
- Assist with periodic deep cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning and window washing
- Monitor and report maintenance issues, damages, or health and safety concerns promptly
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times
- Provide a high level of customer service by responding to guest or visitor requests courteously and efficiently
- Work flexibly across different areas of the estate as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or commercial cleaning is preferred but not essential
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner
- Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Positive attitude towards teamwork and customer service
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Flexibility to work across multiple locations within the estate
Working Hours
- Full-time
- 37.5 hours per week across a 7 day working week to include weekend availability
- There may be periods of early morning and late night work
- This is a 6 month contract which may become a permanent contract at the end of the 6 month period
