Salary: £34,000 to £40,000 DOE + staff benefits
No split shifts. Predominantly daytime operation with occasional evening events.
Montalto Estate is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Chef to support the delivery of high-quality food across our busy Café operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented chef to join a growing hospitality team within one of Northern Ireland’s premier visitor destinations.
Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will play a key role in leading the kitchen team, maintaining exceptional food standards, and ensuring efficient day-to-day kitchen operations. The role will involve supporting café service as well as occasional events and seasonal functions across the estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the daily management of kitchen operations.
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team during service.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality dishes to agreed specifications and standards.
- Assist with menu development, seasonal specials, and product innovation.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards at all times.
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and support ordering procedures.
- Assist with staff training, development, and performance management.
- Ensure consistency of presentation, quality, and portion control.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and collaborative working environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Senior Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef, or similar role.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and quality food.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as required.
